“110 bikes from Germany”
January 6, 2007
We've got a text message from the shipping agent that our container from germany arrive january 25 ahead of schedule. Such a bad timing that aside from the holidays everybody is out doing their own biking thing. Jan 3 we started processing the papers to expedite the release of the container, it is not an easy task to apply an import entry in the customs in the philippines, we're lucky since one of the Bike4U founding member has a friend to help in that matter. We're happy heading back to the office with all the papers in order and the container will be released the same day, a little bit later in the afternoon.
Now, another problem to solve but with a mix of excitement, We will be unloading the bikes and transport them again to Jens and Frank's house. Were able to arrange some help from staff of CITE, Karlo and Vabby and his brother with the help of 5 students. Although the unloading and transporting the bikes is really tiring, I did not notice any trace of tiredness on each faces, everybody was just smiling and excited everytime they pull a bike out. Its overwhelming ! we've got a lot of mtb's and roadees with really nice frame and ready for a serious race, we've got touring bike with very racks and even have pannier bags and complete set of tools, wow! with 3 gear internal hubs that is quiet a novelty here, we've got city bikes with very comfortable saddles...ohhhhh and a lot of bags, components and tools.
We messed up the whole entrance gate of the village but just like us nobody is complaining, i guess they were also amazed of what they saw. The unloading and transfering ended on time, and on time means a good lunch!!!
Bike4U would like to say: "
Daghang Salamat (Vielen Dank) to all donators"
