Whole Cebu City stands up and HELPS.
The Filipinos are awesome people. A disaster happens and the rest of the country stand up and helps. Sure there is a lot of discussion about the government, sure there is a lot of help from different countries. But this help comes later and it is used for rebuilding the infrastructure. With your money we could help IMMEDIATELY and we could help people survive ... and that is priceless.

We have some more donations coming in.
With our help efforts we are not done ...
and than there is Phase 2 rebuilding the economy.

Imagine all fisher boats are destroyed.
Lots of schools are destroyed. 90% of small business are destroyed.
The aim is now get people back to work, fish, go to school whatever. People need to get back to a purpose in life earn and spend money to make the economy working again.
We are networking with other organizations here in Cebu and in the hit areas. We will keep you posted what happens with your money .... but be assured it helps the Philippino people.

My answer is YES ...now more than ever.

Fact is 90 percent of the Philippines is still intact.
Tourism is a big income for Philippinos ... If you would not come now a lot more problems would arise for the economy.

Actually the whole day beeing out there and help was special ...but there was a special moment.

We gave an old lady a relief pack and she asked for a tarp and some nails, coz she lost her husband shortly before the thypoon and now her house was gone. We gave her a pack of nails and the tarp and she couldnt even say thank you anymore coz of teary eyes ... that makes all the effort worthwhile. Btw we gave her an additional pack of rice hope thats ok with you also :)

Nov 17: Sitio Libertad, Bagay, Daanbantayan (230,000 PHP)
We were able to pack 500 packs of food. We had additional 200 packs from Woitek and friends and 100 sacks of nails from Jim Webb.
We where able to help 700 families.

That's how our day was:
We coordinated with a local barangay captain (like a mayor).
For a small village how many people are living in his area. We suggested him to give out numbers to the families. We bought all our stuff ... and started to "repack" it in familie packs. We went up north (around 100 km from cebu).
We just heard about the devastation before and like the rest of the world we saw pictures of it. But on our way there, as closer we went as more we got speechless and sad. In that area really no more banana tree is standing, 80 percent of the coconut trees are gone and all houses build out of bamboo are destroyed. Even 70% of the concrete houses were partially destroyed and almost all left without roof.
Ones we reached the target barangay the 1st families showed up and tbe word spreaded fast. Within 5min at least one of each familie member was there.
After we explained them, that 1st only the people with numbers will get the packs. We started to give out the packs. It was amazing to see even in that desperate moments people were lining up and waited in line with a smile on their face.
There was even time for a smile and a short chat.
After we gave out all the items we gave away tarpaulins (a large sheet of strong, flexible, water-resistant or waterproof material, often cloth such as canvas or polyester coated with urethane, or made of plastics such aspolyethylene) for shelter. For this we have asked the barangay captain also beforehand to prepare a seperate list.
It was clear we need to come back and bring more of this tarps. Which protects people from rain and sun.

We then went on to a primary school and gave away some more tarpaulins so that the school could immeditately use some classrooms again.
On our way back we stopped on the road for elder people and gave them also some relief packs.
Our lesson learned for this day was, bring definitely enough items so that every familie gets something. Imagine you would have to tell some families , sorry but we don't have enough.
It was quite a tiring day with a real sad experience seeing all this people who have lost almost everything. On the other side it was very inspiring to see the "pinoy" spirit. People still have a smile in their face sitting infront of their destroyed houses.
This was motivation enough for us to be sure to come back again!!
